General Dynamics Information Technology Senior Network Engineer in Arlington, Virginia

Job Description

The Network Engineer is responsible for the design and development and implementation of data, voice, and/or video communications networks.

Provide 24/7 real-time monitoring of networks utilizing customer provided tools/capabilities and dashboards.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Utilize enterprise network monitoring tools and applications to provide situational awareness and facilitate response to real-time alerts for Service Restoral Team.• Responsible for monitoring, opening, assigning, updating and closing tickets within the Remedy ticket system.• Notify customer when an alarm is detected, create ticket to assist Service Restoral to address/dispatch tech’s.• Provide effective situational awareness of event resolution status.• Submit and Track the process for Service Restoral team Change Request (CRQ’s) to conduct scheduled maintenance.• Provides phone support.• Submits proposed designs to Engineering Review Board and responds to questions.• Assists authorized outages to implement proposed solutions.• May work odd hours to minimize customer impact.• May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users.• May perform network administration duties.• May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel.• Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.• Participates in special projects as required.

*NOTE: This position is a Part-Time, Weekend Day Shift only. The Work Schedule is Saturday 10am-10pm and Sunday 10am-10pm. *


Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.



  • Active Secret security clearance

  • Current 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE) or higher

  • 5-8 years of directly related experience in network analysis and administration.


  • Active Top Secret security clearance
