Job Description:

GDIT has an immediate opportunity for a Sr. Windows System Administrator with the ability to obtain a Public Trust located in Baltimore, MD. In this role, you will serve as a senior member of the Tier 3 team supporting GDIT’s government client. You will participate in the development of mission-critical IT solutions that include the design, integration, and third-tier support of various hardware and software technologies in an enterprise environment.

GDIT is responsible for providing proactive and predicative Operational management and engineering support of the HIGLAS enterprise environment, including but not limited to Network, Information Security, Storage, Linux and Windows Systems, Database, Virtualization, Enterprise Monitoring, Application Development.

You must have resided in the US for the past three of five years.

Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Engineers, installs, configures, updates, and maintains Microsoft (MS) Windows servers in a large, complex environment

  • Designs and plans complex hardware deployments, software upgrades, and significant operational initiatives, including migrations from Windows 7 to Windows 10

  • Provides advanced level configuration, management, and troubleshooting of all components of the Windows operating system and application deployment platform

  • Designs and implements solutions related to Windows server systems.

  • Prepares, distributes, and deploys critical, security, and otherwise required patches of all managed libraries using tools such as Windows Server Update Services

  • Performs Tier-3 Incident, Request, Change and Problem Management via ServiceNow to keep track of tasks, escalations, issues, and resolutions

  • Addresses and rectifies server problems, works with Microsoft or other vendors as necessary

  • Maintains and upgrades automated scripts for application products to facilitate operational tasks

  • Monitors system capacity (CPU, memory, ports, disk space, etc.) and takes appropriate action to report and correct any issues

  • Coordinates with Project Management, Security, Asset Management, and Service Desk teams as necessary for problem support and resolution

  • Manages and executes various enterprise IT projects from requirements to implementation

  • Tests and deploys software updates and security patches to core infrastructure and servers

  • Monitors faults, performance, and capacity issues; prepares remediation reports and documentation

  • Researches, identifies, and analyzes trends of utilization and errors to improve availability and performance

  • Continuously seeking areas for process and quality improvement, and proactively seeking to support new tasks

  • Conducts gap analyses as needed, and provides results and recommendations to management for review

  • Installs rack-mounted IT equipment, power, and network cabling

  • Develops project documentation such as project plan, high-level design, detailed design, requirements analysis and implementation plans

  • Develops training documentation and Standard Operating Procedures for Systems Administrators

  • Modifies and manages Active Directory components for enterprise LAN/WAN users

  • Manages domain name services (DNS), directory services, and dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP)

  • Schedules and participates in IT maintenance activities. Some nights or weekend may periodically be required.

  • Provides support and training as needed to Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical colleagues

  • Proactively and effectively communicates with the team, managers, and Government POCs, both verbally and in written correspondence

  • Monitors the ticket queue, assigns and works tickets, verifies ticket completion and adheres to SLA targets.

To qualify, you must meet these basic qualifications:

  • BS and eight years related experience or the equivalent or a MS and six years related experience.

  • Minimum of seven years’ experience managing an enterprise environment with Windows Server 2016/2012 and Windows 10/7

  • Minimum of seven years’ experience with Active Directory Enterprise Architecture and Group Policy Best Practices

  • Minimum of seven years SCCM experience

  • Minimum of seven years’ experience with DNS/DHCP/DFSR

  • Minimum of seven years' experience with Remote Support Technologies

  • Minimum of five years experience planning and conducting migrations from Windows 7 to Windows 10

  • Minimum of five years’ experience with domain migration initiatives, including file share and printer administration

It would be great if you also had:

  • Knowledge and skills with one or more of the following: MS Clustering, Citrix/Remote Desktop Services, Active Directory Certificate Services, VMware, SAN Provisioning, NIST/CIS Security Benchmarks, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)

  • MCSA: Sever 2008 or 2012 certification
