Job Description:

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) delivers cost-effective, next-generation IT solutions and services to the Department of Defense, the intelligence community and federal civilian agencies as they modernize their information systems. Currently, we are seeking a Senior Administrator and the selected candidate must have a government security clearance, per contract requirements (Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI eligibility).

  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance (SCI eligible)

  • Strong Linux Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience with Network Administration

  • Experience with Windows operating systems (Win 7/10) administration

  • Occasional shift work, after hours and weekend mission support required

  • Standard usual workweek will be 40 hours per week

  • Perform duties in a secure facility (no cell phones permitted) in support role as member of collaborative Govt-Boeing-GDIT team

  • Work site location is 10,100 feet high, remote, at the summit of Mt Haleakala. Candidate must be able to work at an altitude of 10,100 feet

  • CompTIA Security+ (or other DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification)

  • Bachelor's of Science degree. Four years of experience will equate to a BS degree.

Job Description:

  • 3 - 5 years of demonstrated experience in: Multi-platform systems administration (installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system workstations and servers) with emphasis in Linux operating systems, secure network administration, advanced scripting.

  • Software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Installations and upgrades completed in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.

  • System tuning to achieve optimum performance levels.

  • Recovering lost/compromised data/media.

  • Scheduling and completing system backups and database archive operations.

  • Conducting routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

  • Maintaining a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration/library of all supporting documentation.

  • Various industry certifications: Unix System Administration, MCSE, etc., may be substituted for a BS degree and 2 years of experience.

Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret DoD clearance

  • CompTIA Security+ certification

  • Experienced System Administrator Linux

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 3 years of experience

  • Four years of experience will equate to a BS degree.

  • Unix System Administration, MCSE, etc., may be substituted for a BS degree and 2 years of experience.

  • Work site location is 10,100 feet high, remote, at the summit of Mt Haleakala. Candidate must be able to work at an altitude of 10,100 feet.

Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers. Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation, and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
