General Dynamics Information Technology Sr Network Engineer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Responsible for the design and development of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks.
Analyzes voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.
Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments.
Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements.
Supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.
May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users.
May perform network administration duties.
May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
5-8 years of directly related experience in network analysis and administration.
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Routing and Switching
Five (5) years of professional experience designing and/or analyzing network architectures.
Two (2) years of professional experience designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
Two (2) of professional experience writing, reviewing, and maintaining new or existing network requirements, technical documentation such as user manuals, product specifications, and training materials.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network analysis and design.
Comprehensive knowledge of routers, switches, patch panels, concentrators, associated terminals, and related network hardware and software.
Comprehensive knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications.
May require professional certification in one or more specific technologies, depending on job assignment.
