Job Description:

General Dynamics Information Technology is actively seeking a Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Mission Bay / Deck Trainer having recently served on LCS or with operational Navy Deck Operations Fleet experience. Highly desired experience with Boatswains Mate (BM) rating, Seamanship Training Team (STT), Mission Bay operations, and LCS safety processes and procedures.

Develops; organizes; and conducts Mission Bay / Deck Operations training and educational programs for personnel assigned to Littoral Combat Ships. Must be capable of conducting conventional knowledge-based classroom teaching, performance/scenario-based Mission Bay Trainer (MBT), and laboratory training. The candidate would serve as an Instructor to train LCS sailors in operational employment of the MOBICON; Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and associated LCS deck systems; system capabilities and limitations; mission planning and execution; and communications. When required, the candidate would provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development for LCS courses.

  • Must be prepared to support the Train to Qualify (T2Q) and TYCOM Training and Certification (TTC) process utilizing shore-based trainer requiring dynamic assessment of watchstanders during operational equipment scenarios.

  • Prepares; reviews; and customizes curriculum lesson plans and instructor guide in support of traditional classroom teaching.

  • Supports Formal Course Reviews and Curriculum Updates; conducts training gap analysis and provides formal feedback / recommendations for Course improvement.

  • Develops; tests; maintains; and delivers moderately complex Navy Mission Bay and Deck training programs and related materials in support of SCSTC training objectives.

  • Establishes and reviews course content and objectives.

  • Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.

  • Maintains records of training activities; participant progress; and program effectiveness.

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant safety requirements and technological advances in Mission Bay / Deck operations, as assigned.

  • Primary instruction in LCS-2 Deck Operations and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Training. Additional trainer support required to act as Safety Officer in scenario/lab-based training environments.

  • Candidate may be required to support a second shift work schedule on a rotational basis.

  • Active Secret Security Clearance.

  • Instructing in the courses associated with this position require initial and recurring medical screening, MHE licensing, and Cardio-Pulmonary (CPR) certification. If hired, continued employment with this position is contingent upon successful completion of these requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education:

Associates/Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience.

Qualifications:

Eight (8) years of experience all facets of US Navy Deck operations to include safety processes/procedures, employment and management of US Navy Material Handling Equipment, and operations/familiarization of associated LCS deck systems.

Of the eight years, two (2) years of experience as an Instructor in a formal Navy individual training environment, to include presentation skills, public speaking skills, curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems.

One (1) year of relevant experience using training systems/simulations for effective and correct presentation of learning objectives.

Experience as a trainer/instructor and/or a Master/Afloat Training Specialist in support of SCSTC/TACTRAGRU/ATG is a significant plus. Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing. Travel may be required up to 10% of time.

The likely salary range for this position is $74,800 - $101,200. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
