HOW A SOFTWARE DEVELOPER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

This position supports the Geospatial Services & Solutions business area to provide high-quality, cost-effective solutions to the customer. As part of the GSS Team the GIS Software Developer's expertise is needed to support a sophisticated enterprise environment.

The GIS Software Developer is an active participant in SAFe and Scrum development teams and meetings. The software developer will be responsible for developing and deploying custom solutions to the customer's enterprise environment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Researches, designs, develops, tests, and/or modifies enterprise-wide Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and/or geospatial applications software

•Analyzes user/business software system requirements and determines needs

•Determine the functionality of an application and performs upgrades over time

•Maintains software documentation to support software development policies, standards, and procedures including but not limited to design specifications, user manuals, technical guides, and configuration management.

•Establish and improve system monitoring while maintaining established security protocols within development, test, and production systems

• Works under the guidance of the Scrum Master using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) software development methodology to produce accurate delivery estimates, manage the transition from analysis through to design and delivery, manage any delivery risks or concerns, define stories, and plan future sprints

•Designs, implements, and maintains well designed, well documented, efficient, and testable application code on various networks in Python, Java, JavaScript,

•Prepares and produces releases of new software components

•Writes automated unit test and integration test cases and evaluates code quality using automated tools

•Provides technical support and consultation for application and infrastructure questions

•Aligns to the customer's strategies

•Utilizes the customer's enterprise DevSecOps pipeline

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years of related software development experience

Required Skills:

•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or other business-related field

•GIS related field experience and 5 - 10 years of technical experience

•Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills

•Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, and DevOps/DevSecOps processes and workflows

•Experience building and working with container images (Docker) and deployment of application systems to cloud or on-prem/data center infrastructure.

•Experience with utilizing CI/CD tools like GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus

• Demonstrated experience using COTS exploitation software such as ArcGIS, Google Earth, ENVI, RemoteView, , Skyline Software, Erdas Imagine in both Windows/Linux operating environment

• Thorough understanding of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) software (ArcGIS Pro, Desktop, Enterprise), Quantam GIS (QGIS), GeoServer, PostGIS (PostgreSQL), as well as software engineering and programming for GIS systems (C++, Java, SQL, Python, JavaScript, HTML) in large computer and minicomputer and microprocessor systems supporting a broad base of applications

•Demonstrated ability to creatively solve technical problems

•Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a small team

•Active TS/SCI clearance required and eligibility to obtain a CI poly

Desired

•Experience with data exchange formats such as GeoRSS, KML, KMZ, WFS, WMS, SMTS, ESRI Shapefile, JSON/GeoJSON.

•Experience with deploying and integrating with AWS cloud services such as S3, RDS

•Experience working or integrating with Geospatial data tools such as GDAL/OGR, ESRI, ArcPy, GeoPandas

•Proficiency working with raster and vector datasets such as GeoTIFF. Familiarity with image processing and analysis technologies, including tools like QGIS, ImageMagick, and MapServer, etc.

•Experience developing and maintaining HTTP REST APIs

The likely salary range for this position is $119,000 - $161,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
