The SEC ISS program is a comprehensive IT program charged with operating, managing, and advancing the SEC's IT infrastructure. Our dynamic program team of IT leaders and large and small business partners is seeking bright, energetic and talented individuals to join us as we bring our innovative IT Service Delivery solutions to SEC. Currently, we are seeking a Sr. Storage Engineer in Washington, DC. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Public Trust Suitability clearance, per contract requirements.Since 1934 the SEC has been restoring and ensuring investor confidence in our capital markets by providing investors and the markets with more reliable information and clear rules of honest dealing. Day to day activities:

Installs, configures, and maintains server hardware, operating systems, applications, and supporting peripherals.; Supports the Senior Systems Administrator, site administrators, and engineers from other teams supporting the customer.; Ensures the availability of enterprise computing environments through daily, preventive, and remedial maintenance.; Assists, under direct supervision, with network hardware, servers and software installation, troubleshooting, and support. Assists with user calls. Assists with asset management and inventory of IT assets.; Monitors and responds to hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware including printers and software testing tools and techniques.; Creates, maintains, and updates technical documentation, physical and logical network diagrams, policies, procedures, user guides, status reports, and other documents.; Administers accounts, resources, groups, and system privileges in Microsoft Active Directory.; Implements upgrades and patches. Provides morning checks of servers/application. Complies with existing change management and security requirements to properly authorize and document work.; Manages the enterprise backup solution to ensure that routine data backups and restores are conducted and verified and that tapes are managed as prescribed.; Provides system administration on Windows 2000/2003/2008, Novell Netware, and Red Hat Linux servers.

Performs day-to-day activities required to support the data centers, primarily performing activities such as installations, configurations, logistics, coordination, and control and tracking. Installs and manages configurations for all test equipment. Manages physical security, key access, organization, and software configurations for DCIM tools

Requirements:

-Must be able to terminate copper and fiber cable and rack and stack server hardware

-Minimum of 5 years of related experience in Data Center support, administrating equipment installations and configurations.

-Experience installing Windows or Unix OS

-Experience using ticketing systems and/or Information management systems to track maintenance and workflow

-Must have experience with Excel other MS Office Suite products

Desired:

-Configure IP Stacks on-site

-Experience documenting and validating cable plant infrastructure

-Understanding of Boarder Gateway Protocols or Class A vs. Class B configurations
